After several months of traveling internationally none stop, I’m finally back in the U.S.A. to hit the reset button, get rid of the storage that I currently have, and tend to my Maid of Honor duties in New Orleans. It’s my Forever Friend’s Hen Night, so I gotta go turn up!!!
I have compiled a list of 5 things I missed about the U.S.A. after a long stretch of international travel.
1.Western Food, Especially Tex-Mex
Seriously, I thought I would die from all of the stale imitation corn chips and watered down salsa I kept encountering. Not to mention, it seems that no place but Texas understands the glory that is and the importance of queso. Bring on the sloppy burritos and frozen margaritas please!
2. Being on The Same Time zone As My Friends
Staying up late and waking up early can be a challenge. I think my friends are just as happy as I am that we don’t have to check an app to make sure that now is a good time to call.
Vegetables are not plentiful in the areas I recently explored. I am one who loves her dark, leafy greens, so this has been a bit of a challenge. I look forward to stocking up on some green protein shakes, vitamins and all things healthy.
4. Walmart & Target
Listen my friends, to be able to walk into a trusted store and know where everything is, and what everything is, is a luxury. Not to mention being able to ask any store clerk about an item, and not have to squint your eyes and ears in order to understand. Lol Lookout Target, here I come!
5.Soft Mattresses & Sheets
So, beside the times that I was able to stay at luxury properties in SE Asia, the beds and linen were hard in comparison to what we are accustomed to in the United States. I’m in a soft bed right now with soft linen and it feels so wonderful.
So there you have it. 5 reasons I’m glad to be back in the USA for a while.
Have you traveled for an extended time and found reasons why you were happy to go home?
Tell me about it.
