I honestly can’t believe how obsessed I’ve been with the temples (wats) here in Asia. Someone asked me today if I meditate in them. The truth of the matter is I don’t participate in any of the rituals and honestly don’t have a great deal of interest in that part. Sorry to anyone that they may offend.
I’m specifically intrigued with the architecture, the detail, the intricate designs. I love how huge and overwhelming the temples are and I love the statues as well. They are everywhere here, and I honestly can’t get enough.
I thought that I might share some of my favorite photos of the temples and statues that I’ve encountered so far. I know that there are many more to come, but I didn’t want to wait until my trip was over to share.
While the pictures are beautiful, please know that they do these works of art no justice. If you have never really thought about temples, I want to encourage you to check them out if you ever get the chance.
They have a very unique energy about them and I could go see a new one every day and be pleased. Enjoy the photos.
Tali the Wat Chaser 🙂
A few of my favorite statues from around the city.
Just me hanging out a temple. I unfortunately don’t have the name of this one 🙁
Doi Suthep is a MUST SEE!
Rong Suea Ten Better Known as The Blue Temple is located in Chiang Rai. I took a day trip that took me six hours round trip. It was so worth it!
And I saved the best for last. In the same day, not only did I get to set my eyes on the beautiful Blue Temple. I also went to Wat Rong Kuhn better known as The White Temple. There are no photos or words to do this beauty justice. It blew my mind and rocked me to my core. I’ve never experienced anything like it!
I hope you guys have enjoyed my little walk down memory lane. Like I said, I’m sure my Wat seeking journey is far from over but I wanted to stop, take a moment to reminisce and share with you.
